Patlabor (a portmanteau of "patrol" and "labor") refers to Mobile Police Patlabor, a manga franchise created by Headgear, a group consisting of director Mamoru Oshii, writer Kazunori Ito, mecha designer Yutaka Izubuchi, character designer Akemi Takada, and manga artist Masami Yūki.
